Samira was born in the Central African Republic and
now lives in Chad. She is at risk of becoming stateless. Samira's
parents originated from Chad, but moved to the Central African
Republic to work. Samira was born and raised in the Central
African Republic but was never granted citizenship. When

Chad with her four children, leaving behind the bodies of her
other loved ones. She also left vital documents: the papers that
proved her parents were Chadian, which were burned out with
the rest of her home. When she reached Chad, along with 75,000
other people in the same situation, she had no way to prove she
was Chadian.

Samira est née en République Centrafricaine et vit au
Chad. Elle risque de devenir apatride. Les parents de Samira étaient
tchadiens et ont émigré en Centrafrique pour travailler. Elle est née
et a grandi dans ce pays, mais elle a toujours gardé la nationalité
tchadienne. Lorsque les violences ont éclaté en Centrafrique, elle a
fui vers le Tchad avec ses quatre enfants, en laissant derrière elle
les dépouilles mortelles de ses proches. Dans sa fuite, elle a
également dû abandonner des documents cruciaux: les papiers
prouvant la nationalité tchadienne de ses parents, qui furent brûlés
avec sa maison. Lorsqu’elle est arrivée au Tchad parmi les 75,000
Centrafricains en fuite, elle n’a eu aucun moyen de prouver sa
nationalité
